Award thematic tourney IMSCORP - 30 C 1.10.2004

IMSCORP
603 "L" Street, Lincoln, NE 68508
Unted States of America
(402) 474-6603

2004 marks the 30th anniversary of IMSCORP

IMSCORP is a corporation which includes the diverse manufacturing divisions of SourceOne, Bison and SignCo. All divisions operate independently of each other and with their own employees but have a shared campus location. IMSCORP is locally owned and operated and resides in downtown Lincoln Nebraska with new campus facilities beginning on the west side of Lincoln. IMSCORP currently employs around 200 employees. Started in 1974 by two high school friends, IMSCORP continues to see major growth and diversity.

One of four companies first established, Industrial Machine Specialties, started out as a small machine shop with one employee. In late 2004, Industrial Machine and Industrial Powder Coating merged into SourceOne to give customers a one-stop shop for manufacturing needs. They bring forth the latest technologies in computerized machining, powder coating and even includes its own product line.

Bison Inc., was developed to manufacture sporting goods equipment. They are the leading manufacturer in competition playground and high-end basketball & volleyball equipment today. Approximately ten percent of sales are international with 1500 dealers across the U.S.

In 1994, SignCo was established to develop custom rotating signs for sporting venues. SignCo is now a leader in providing high tech athletic rotating marketing signage for basketball, football and baseball venues.

Four compositions, for various reasons, were rejected (the authors have been informed)
The theme for this tourney was:
In a h#2, two white pieces (Pawns included), captured in one solution, create a battery (direct or indirect) in the other. Set play, twins, multiple solutions and zeropositions were allowed (no fairy pieces).
Many interesting problems were submitted and the quality of the tourney was good. There were quite a few entries with similar mechanisms which happens in theme competitions.
